Please Answer Me Tonight
I've listened so many times before
To what my heart has said,
Only to find myself at night
Crying in my bed
Today I said, "I love you"
To one very close to me,
And I haven't had that feeling
Since that day I was set free
It has taken many years My Lord
For my eyes to gain this sight,
Did I do right in what I said?
Please answer me tonight
Tell me if my heart
Is reacting far to fast,
Have I really gone long enough
To forget about the past?
Have I forgiven and truly meant it
Or is there still some doubt within?
Please tell me that I'm free of this
And I've washed away their sin
The one I truly love Dear Lord
Should never have to feel,
That the cards I laid in front of them
Are part of a misdeal
So I'm asking my biggest question Lord
Because I'd like to see your light,
Shine down your approval to comfort me
