For trust and love that's pure and mild

There is nothing quite like a child.

The Lord said, "Let them come to me.

Forbid them not, but let it be.

You will not enter strong or wild,

But you may enter as a child."

It's sad, we teach a child deceit,

And tell them that we're just discrete.

We steal their honesty that way

And tell them that it's all okay.

We teach them to live for today,

And wonder when they go astray.

We can teach abortion is cool,

But we can't teach the Golden Rule.

Don't help them, Lord, to be like us…

To lie, and cheat, and steal, and cuss.

Help me to be as one of those,

Whose love and faith all Heaven knows.
